Wireless

Unlike the wired schemes discussed above, in wireless systems, devices exchange signals with each other via a radio channel. This characteristic feature reduces the number of wires, reduces the time and money spent on installation and setup of the structure. Wireless models can be installed in an already built apartment or house with interior decor. There are also other benefits:
No need to develop a complicated design. It is enough to chalk out places where it is planned to install sensors and actuators. Without the need for a design, the cost of installation is reduced.

Adequate cost: a wide range of wireless systems at an affordable price is on sale today. Automation can be started with just a couple of devices, by adding more devices later.

A large selection of turnkey solutions for automation of home processes. Today, such homes are manufactured by Xiaomi, Broadlink, Redmond, Z-Wave, Zamel, Ectostroy, HDL and many others.

It is impossible to overlook such an advantage of wireless structures as the ease of system setup and operation. This work can be handled by people, who have not previously dealt with a smart home. Besides, there are a lot of guides and tips how to configure scenarios in present-day systems. In this context, operation of a smart-home will not cause any problems.

                                                                                                              Disadvantages

Along with a large number of positive qualities, wireless equipment for automation of home processes has many disadvantages. One of the most annoying shortcomings is the need for regular replacement of non-chargeable and rechargeable batteries in stand-alone sensors and actuators. Otherwise, at the most crucial moment, the system may fail. Among such shortcomings of these systems are:
Inadequate security. Since data between the devices is transmitted via a radio channel, the connection may be lost or jammed by third-party attacks. Most smart-homes operate at a frequency of 433 MHz, which experiences a lot of interference.
Limited functionality. If wired schemes are able to control any equipment in the house, wireless schemes are often limited to lighting, alarm and some types of home appliances: for example, TVs, split systems and air conditioners. If it is planned to build a truly multifunctional house, it is better to consider wired options.
Despite the serious shortcomings, wireless models are in great demand. For an ordinary house with an already finished decor, this is the best option, despite some negative aspects.
